I desperately, gravely, truly owe this blog an update, and for that I hope you will accept my apologies!
The last time I posted anything was before I went on a family vacation to Seoul (which went wonderfully, and whose accompanying travelogue I haven’t forgotten, I promise!); a great deal has happened since then. After three months or so of writing emails and making calls and collective stress on my and mum’s parts, as of July, it’s official – I am now a bachelor’s student in arts and social sciences in Monash Malaysia ヾ(・∀・`*)ノ☆
So the quest for knowledge continues!
Since then, my time has mostly been spent readjusting to the undergrad life – I hadn’t actually written an academic anything since November of last year, so… But it’s been really rewarding! My first semester ended on a high note, and I’m still floored by the scope of things I get to learn in the units I’m planning to take. My newfound freedom is also really liberating – I can now freely and safely walk to Pyramid for a hard-earned treat after a long essay, and trust me when I say the BRT is the best thing Malaysian transportation has ever given me. It’s all super exciting, and apparently I get to share an office + get name cards next year?!
(If any of you reading this are somehow planning to enrol in Monash soon, buzz me! Course structures and all can be a bit wonky and hard to understand if you haven’t already been exposed to an Australian system, and I’ll be happy to help where I can.)
I also last wrote about my scholarship endeavours, and I’m super duper pleased to say that I was indeed selected for the Great Eastern Supremacy Scholarship! What’s a celebratory update without my signature sparkly, right? ( ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧ I’m beyond relieved, but now the next thing to do is to keep that GPA up, haha!
Somewhere during the months of my inactivity, I reflected a bit on something that was said to me during the interview, and though belated, it really struck a cord in me. So I’ve been writing a kind of personal expression post and adding to it whenever I thought of something over the weeks. It’s a fun little writing experiment that also holds a lot of meaning to me, so hopefully I’ll be able to share that here once I’m satisfied with it.
Well, it’s been an awful year in some ways – all the tragedies, including but not limited to a certain presidential election (oops) – but some great things have also happened. I got into undergrad studies at a university of my choice, I’ve met some amazing new friends, Leo finally won his Oscar, I finally got to see EXO in person, Seventeen did their Asia tour, Cardcaptor Sakura has been revived after more than a decade.
But it’s now my favourite season of the year, and hopefully Christmas will bring back some joy and herald a really good 2017 ;w; Two and a half months’ worth of summer break awaits me now, so time to get to all the things I’ve put on hold through the chaos of 2016!
I’m looking at you, TV marathons and brush calligraphy and language studies.
